Soccer and Men's Basketball Practices from US Deaflympics on Vimeo.

RENCA DUNN: Hello! Welcome to National Chung Cheng University, or NCCU. This is where our U.S. athletes will be training to get ready for the Deaflympics. Make sure you keep checking our Web site, usdeaflympics.org, so you can see our athletes in training

JACK LAMBERTON: So far, here in Chia-Yi, about a three-hour drive south of Taipei, and since we’ve arrived, I’ve been very impressed with the welcome we’ve received from Taiwanese people. They’ve gone out of their way to make sure our stay here is comfortable and pleasant and immediately fixing any problems. This gym, on the first day, was very hot, but that’s been fixed. Really, I’ve been impressed. And not only that, but our flight over on Malaysian Airlines, they found six employees who could sign — not fluently, but they could sign. Then the bus here and the hotel, everything’s been great so far. My experience here has been absolutely positive. I’d like to give thanks to the Taiwanese people.

JEFF SALIT: I think Jack’s said it all, and I don’t want to steal his words. I’ll add a few more, though. Really, wow, this is an awesome place. Chung Cheng University, or CCU … the people here have been very friendly, nice and very supportive of us. The first day was very hot, but it’s since cooled down. All the players — athletes, coaches, staff — have been very positive. Really, wow, I wish we could have the Deaflympics here every four years because it’s so nice — but that won’t happen. Really, this is our third day here, and we have three more days left before we take a bus to Taipei. The two of us will leave tomorrow to make sure everything is ready there in Taipei for all the athletes, coaches — any meetings we need to do. We look forward to a good, smooth rest of the Deaflympics. I think all will have good memories of this. It’s wonderful to be here.
