USA vs Ireland

USA is defeated by Ireland 2-0 in Group play.

In a rain drenched opening round match, Ireland defeated USA 2-0 to start the group play of the 21st Deaflymipc Games. Ireland struck first in the 13th minute off a questionable free kick giving them the immediate lead which they would go on to hold for the remainder of the game. Many of USA's chances were stopped by the Ireland defenders, preventing the US with a chance in putting the ball into the back of the net.

The fields retained all the rain water making it difficult to dribble or pass the ball for both teams. Several times the ball would get stuck in the mud, making it difficult for players to dribble and pass.

Ireland struck again before the closing off the first half of a low cross at the top of the 18 yard line, taking a one time shot and placing it just under Chris Jones' diving body.

The second half proved to be better for the US however, they were still unable to find the back of the net.

The US will face Japan on Sunday for Game 2 of group play. Japan faced Great Britain following the US game and lost 2-1. Kick off time set for 14:30 (GMT +8).
